What Is a Lip Flip?
A lip flip does not add fller or physical volume.
Instead, a small amount of wrinkle relaxer is placed around the upper lip to reduce the pull of selected muscles. This may allow more of the natural upper lip to remain visible, especially while smiling.
A lip fip creates a subtler change than fller. It may be appropriate if your upper lip turns inward or seems to disappear when you smile.
Because these muscles are also involved in speaking and drinking, precise placement and conservative dosing are important.
What Is Lip Filler?
Lip fller uses an injectable product, typically containing hyaluronic acid, to add volume or improve shape and defnition.
Placement can be adjusted according to your goal. Some patients want general fullness, while others need more support in a particular area. Lip fller may also restore volume that has gradually decreased with age.
Because the lips are constantly moving, the selected product should allow for natural expression while providing the desired amount of support.
Should I Choose Lip Filler or a Lip Flip?

Lip fller is generally the better option when you want additional volume, defnition, or a change in shape. A lip fip may be appropriate when you like your natural volume but want more of the upper lip to show.

How Long Does Lip Enhancement Last?
Both lip fller and lip fips are temporary.
How long fller lasts depends on the product, placement, metabolism, lip movement, and individual response. A lip fip gradually wears of as normal muscle activity returns and may not last as long as wrinkle-relaxer treatment in less active facial areas.
Your provider can recommend maintenance based on how your individual results develop.
How Much Swelling Is Normal?
Swelling is expected after lip fller and can be more noticeable than swelling in other facial areas.
The lips may feel tender or frm, and swelling may not afect both sides equally. Bruising and temporary unevenness can also occur.
Your lips should not be judged for fnal size or symmetry immediately after treatment. The result becomes easier to evaluate as swelling improves and the fller settles.
How Much Lip Filler Will I Need?
There is no standard amount for every patient.
Naturally thin lips, age-related volume loss, previous fller, facial proportions, and your desired result all infuence how much may be recommended.
If you are receiving lip fller for the frst time or want a subtle result, a gradual approach may be best. Allowing the tissue to adjust between appointments can create a more controlled and natural-looking change.
